[mythtv-users] Non-responsive IR blaster with 2 lircs running

Hi

Did the RH9 mythtv install described at pvrhw.goldfish.org
(http://pvrhw.goldfish.org/tiki-page.php?pageName=rh9pvr250) and everything
runs fine.
Have the Hauppage 250 card and I can control mythtv using the gray remote
that comes with the card.
However, I have Comcast digital cable so I bought a IR Blaster and I'm
currently trying to get that working.

I followed the instructions at http://members.cox.net/rwraithr/ for running
2 lircs at the same time. Followed the instructions and everything installs
fine and the modules install. remote_sir module is listed as unused. the
"remoted" process is running and when I try remote_irrecord on
device=/dev/remote I see dots as I push the buttons.
However, if I try to send commands nothing happens. And if I start the
remoted process as nodaemon and run remote_irw , I see no output.
I've tried a couple of configurations for remotes, none of which works. I
have a Motorola DCT2444 from Comcast. So I tried both the DCT2000 and the
Comcast digital remote configuration file. Neither made a difference. If I
tried to actually run the irrecord I get past the first couple of steps(the
part where you're supposed to keep pushing random buttons forever). But
when I get to the part where one enters a name for the button and then push
it, I keep getting some error about not getting data and I have like 9 more
tries all of which fails.

I've tried BIOS setting to both Normal and irDA. Also, I've run setserial
-g /dev/ttyS*, which spits out a lot of stuff. Only one COM channel
actually has a UART listed (I only have one COM port on my motherboard).
Strangly enough the UART listing switches betweeen /dev/ttyS0 and
/dev/ttyS1 about every reboot. I thought this was determined by
hardware..... whatever, way above me.

So if anyone has any idea how I can get past this problem, it would be much
appreciated.

thanks,
Henrik Bentel
