Donald,

I've got the TV Wonder (not ve but only diff I'm aware is mine is stereo
sound and the VE is mono) but I think that's a hardware thing...
anyways.

It's tricky sometimes are you sure you have the proper record source
picked? And.. Cables plugged out from your capture card to your cd or
line input on your sound card? (internal?)

My TV Wonder is hooked via the provided cable to my creative sb live
card so I have my "CD" checked as record source and it's working fine.
I also have my digital cable box plugged into my line in so I can record
from it using the s-video input on the card and the line in on my sound
card. (once I get lirc working I'll only use the digital cable box).

The thing to remember with the tv wonder cards is the sound really has
nothing to do with the tv card. It's all based on your sound card and
drivers. If you can run XawTv on that box and hear sound then it's fine.
I'd use that to trouble shoot with.

Can you hear sound if you play a music cd or mp3 file?

Also....

Make sure you have the correct settings in your setup for the audio
mixer and device. (ie.. /dev/sound or whatever yours is)
