[mythtv-users] Stuttering/slow playback with mpeg 4

I'm running mythtv .12 installed using Jarod's guide. It is running on an
AMD 2000+ and 512 DDR system. I have a Prolink Pixelview Pro doing the
captures. Everything is working great except that I recently switched
from RTJpeg to Mpeg4. Unfortunately, now after about 10 minutes of
watching a recording the playback starts to stutter and slow down. If I
just exit the playback and start it again (at the same place) the slowness
goes away for a few minutes. So the file itself seems to be fine.

I still have some of the old recordings made with RTJpeg and they don't
have any problems. Those files are all about 11 GBs for a two hour show
where as the Mpeg4 recordings are about 2.3 for a two hour show. Over the
last few days I've been slowing increasing the bit rate of my Mpeg4
recording thinking that maybe the file size/quality has something to do
with it but I'm running out of ideas. My latest test was Mpeg4 640 X 480
at 4000 bit rate. But it still slowed down after a few minutes of play.
Any suggestions?

Jared
