I'm not familiar with this specific model, but in general, GI and Motorola 
digital-cable boxes with the same model numbers are the same device, except 
perhaps
for firmware level.

Unfortunately, firmware level does matter for using the built-in serial 
ports on these devices, so you need to check that (usually somewhere in the 
setup menu).
