Well, you didn't give any system specs, but I'm assuming you have a
PVR-250/350, since you're using ivtv. If that's the case, first of all
you can't use xawtv to test it, as xawtv is only for V4L cards. If
you're recording from a PVR-x50 it shouldn't be trying to open /dev/dsp
as a capture device, as the audio & video are already multiplexed into
an MPEG stream on /dev/videoXX. It sounds like you chose the wrong
tuner card type when you ran the backend setup program -- you should
have chosen "Hardware MPEG card" *NOT* "Standard V4L or Hardware
MJPEG" (note the 'J' -- "MPEG" != "MJPEG"). Re-run the backend setup
and make sure you choose the correct card type.
