Well, I'll make it short. The PVR350 will work exactly as you describe
it.

There is only !one! modeline (OK, two, one for PAL and one for NTSC, but
you have to choose, so that makes one) that fits your TV scanlines
perfectly (as with the HW encoder from a VCR or DVD).

You can adjust the MythTV gui and OSD to fit inside the viewable area
quite easily from within MythTV's configuration screens.

TV quality is, well, like TV quality is (you won't get anything better
out as what you put in)

No comparison to a VGA's TV out, which also works exactly as you
described it.
