[mythtv-users] Re:Re:LIRC daemon refuses to start

Not even 5 minutes after getting home, I tried it. Or,
at least I think I did. Still no luck :-(

Here are my steps:

1. Tried to do a search on contrib/lirc.redhat
thinking it's on my system. No go.
2. Google on lirc.redhat. Found a CVS 1.1 which I
downloaded. Very small file.
3. Copied it to my /etc/rc.d/init.d/ directory and
called it lircd. Funny, there was no such file in that
directory previously.
4. # chkconfig lircd
5. The I went through Jarod's documentation line by
line:
# /sbin/modprobe lirc_dev
# /sbin/modprobe lirc_dev
# /sbin/chkconfig lircd on

This time, it didn't kick back an error, but I didn't
get the OKs I was accustomed to seeing.

Next:
# /sbin/service lircd start
lircd: unrecognized service

Still getting some sort of error. Dave, any thoughts?
How did you get yours running? Step by step please.
