I just called Shaw and asked for a callback from someone at the headend with 
the technical skills to do this.  Supposedly I'll get a call in 24 hrs....

Explaining this should be interesting.

I had tried to get the firmware upgraded a few months back and had spoken 
with someone who seemed to have a clue at the call centre, it's a pity I 
didn't get his name at the time.

So... any other Mythtv users in the Greater Vancouver area? Maybe we can 
barrage Shaw with lots of calls and hopefully get some action on this.
