Sorry, this is a repost. I forgot to change the subject in the last post. I noticed your question in the digest, not sure if it's already been answered. I think you need to add "mythfronted &" to your .xsession file. .xinitrc is run when you use "startx" or "xinit". But xdm,gdm and kdm all use .xsession. -larry
