[mythtv-users] 2 Problems: No Sound, Can't change channel

First I want to thank everybody who have made this awesome product
possible including those who have created packages and install
documentation to help us newbies along.

I've installed mythTV .12 according to Jarod's instructions using the
myth-suite provided by ATrpms.  My system consists of the following
components:

RedHat 9
ASROCK AMD Model K7-VM2
XP 2000+
Onboard Audio with Alsa .9
PixelView Play TV Pro Tuner
eVGA NVidia GE 4 MX 440

I am able to schedule recordings as well as play them back.  They end up
being 2.5 GB for 30 minutes but that is another issue.  I'm even able to
watch live tv sort of.  Unfortunatly I have two problems.

1) No sound at all

I've searched the archives numerous times for help with the sound.  I've
even gone through the MythTV audio help section of the documentation
twice.  The problem is that no matter what I do I can't hear anything. 
I've tried using both the Mic input on my sound card as well as the Line
In.  Each time I've made the appropriate changes in AlsaMixer.  When I run
aplay /dev/dsp I get the following output:

Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

2) When watching live TV if I try to change the channel everything freezes.

This may be related to the sound issue but I'm not sure.  When I start to
watch Live TV it defaults to the channel I specified in mythtvsetup.  But
if I try to change the channel everything just freezes.  I end up getting
out of MythTV using alt-tab.  Any ideas here?
