I'd like to toss in a friendly unsolicited opinion! :)

I'd rather not have the code try to entirely eliminate black frames, it's 
rarely going to save more than a fraction of a second, and a brief moment is 
usually desired for my brain to handle context changes. ;) I like a very few 
frames of black, I find it a smoother transition. In fact, I have used edit 
mode to adjust the cutpoints of some shows by a GOP set specifically to get 
the black back! :)

Just an opinion, I think the code is working great and is on it's way to 
perfection!
