[mythtv-users] couple of problems remaining...

I've been setting up a MythTV box using the following hardware:

Asus Pundit (using onboard soundcard for audio record/playback)
P4 2.4Ghz
512MB Ram
Hauppage WinTV GO (using Composite input for video)
LIRC homebrew receiver/transmitter (motorola dct-2000 box)

and the following software:
Software info:
Gentoo Linux
MythTV from CVS (oct 28)
Mysql 4.0.14-r2
alsa-driver 0.9.2 (snd-intel8x0)
Qt 3.1.2-r4
XFree 4.3.0-r3
Lirc 0.6.6-r1

First off, I'm overwhelmingly impressed with MythTV so far - I had no idea
how full-featured it was. Kudos to Isaac and all the other
developers/contributors for such a great project.

That said, I'm stuck on a couple of niggling issues that prevent the box
from being fully useable.

1) Audio
Sometimes, (particularly after a LiveTV channel change), the audio will
become glitchy. I've experimented with extra audio buffering, but it doesn't
fix the problem. If I return to the TV menu, and re-select Watch TV, the
audio becomes fine again. I suspect that this is a capture rather than
playback issue, since recorded shows sometimes exhibit the same problem. The
fact that this often occurs following a channel change made me wonder if it
might be related to LIRC's brief spike in CPU usage when emitting the IR to
change channel (I'm assuming LIRC manually tweaks the DTR line at ~40KHz).

2) Live TV hangs
Occasionally, while watching LiveTV, the screen will freeze, and the
frontend log file will be filled with prebuffering messages. I've posted
about this one before, but am still no closer to finding a solution.

Any advice or troubleshooting suggestions that anyone can suggest would be
hugely appreciated.

Thanks,
Ben
