[mythtv-users] unclear when to be satisfied with tv out quality

Hi,

I've set up mythtv using a pvr250 and the S-video tv-out of a GeForce4
MX440. I think the picture quality is pretty good when I'm watching tv
(once I set the de-interlace playback option). However, on some screens
such as "Play Music", which has long horizontal lines, the lines appear to
slightly bounce.

My (limited) understanding is that I'm seeing interline-flicker (or line
twitter), which are interlace artifacts. My question, though, is whether I
should just accept what I'm seeing as good enough. Are there XFree86
settings or nvidia driver settings to get rid of the bouncy lines? I'm
assuming that if people are viewing web browsers on their tvs that they
must not see these bouncy lines. Bringing up a web browser causes much
more bounciness for me than any of the mythtv screens.

So, basically I'm asking:
1) Are these bouncy lines unavoidable? If so, does everyone just learn to
ignore them? If not, is there something I can do to fix it?
2) Would a better graphics card/tv out/VGA to TV converter fix the problem?

I'll reiterate, though, that the tv playback looks good, as does the image
viewer, and the music visualizations. It's just when there are long
horizontal lines, they seem to bounce slightly.

Thanks for any help,

Dan.
