[mythtv-users] Rip DVD & MTDLogger.o: Problem opening logfile problem

I tried Rip DVD for the first time. Got the following
error:

Cannot connect to your Myth Transcoding Daemon. You
can try hitting any number key to start it. If you
still get this message, then something is terribly
wrong.

I did a forum search on Transcoding Daemon and try the
fixes suggest such as manually starting the daemon
with a # mtd -d but got the following error (BTW, this
is with a fresh reboot and load of Myth .12):

$ MTDLogger.o: Problem opening logfile. Does this look
openable to you: /mnt/store/dvdrip//mtd.log

I checked /mnt/store and no dvdrip subdirectory. Also,
what's with the double // before mtd.log?
