[mythtv-users] Error on MAKE for IVTV Driver

I am following the instructions at:
http://www.mythtv.org/docs/mythtv-HOWTO-19.html#ss19.10

and got as far as:
cd ~/ivtv/ivtv/driver

but when I run make it says:
Makefile:8: /usr/src/linux/.config: No such file or directory
make: *** No rule to make target `/usr/src/linux/.config'.  Stop.
[root at localhost driver]#
(arg: 1)

This is a clean install of Red Hat 9 with (hopefully) everything I need
and a WinTV PVR250 installed.  I know the instructions are written for
Mandrake so maybe there's something different I need to do for Red Hat?
