The problem is a lot of people don't need a kernel recompile to install
lirc, others do. I don't think we need to be saying "mythtv install
instructions, step 1, recompile your kernel" that will scare some folks
off and be unnesessary for others. Many people, myself included, just
wanted to see if I could get the mythtv working with a keyboard, then
worry about a remote. I agree however, that in an install from scratch
situation when you know you will need to recompile the kernel, it is
easiest to do it right off the bat.
