[mythtv-users] Questions for the experts

Well, thanks to all of the assitance from you wonderful people, I've got my
MythTV box up and running. I only had to do the whole installation 3 times ...
twice on the first machine, and then once on a newer & faster machine. Lots of
time and effort, but a worthwhile and life changing experience!

Thanks to everyone, especially Isaac, for putting the time and effort into such
a cool project.

Now, it's time to move on to the next stage of the game. I need to finalize
some of the configuration, and add a second box, so this is where I need some
sage advice.

1) The TV screen still looks a bit fuzzy ... especially when in KDE, but
noticible in the MythTV menus. Is this normal? Here's the section from my
XF86Config file:

Section "Device"

Identifier "Videocard0"

Driver "nvidia"
VendorName "PNY Verto"
BoardName "nVidia GeForce FX 5200 PCI"
Option "RenderAccel" "1"

# TV Out Setup

Option "TwinView"
Option "TwinViewOrientation" "Clone"

Option "ConnectedMonitor" "CRT, TV"
Option "SecondMonitorHorizSync" "30-50"
Option "SecondMonitorVertRefresh" "60"
Option "MetaModes" "1024x768, 1024x768; 800x600, 800x600; 640x480, 640x480;"
Option "TVStandard" "NTSC-M"
Option "TVOutFormat" "SVIDEO"
Option "TVOverScan" "0.0"

EndSection

Is there something that needs changing, or is this normal behavior with a TV set?

2) Adding a second MythTV System. I looked thru the docs, and perhaps I
overlooked something, but couldn't find any info on a "MythFrontEnd only System"
anywhere. I assume this means I need a slave backend. Is there a way to do a
front end only system?

Ideally, I'd prefer to have multiple tuners in a master backend system, and one
or more front end only systems. If this is at all possible, it would make for a
good install guide.

I have no problem with reading docs, so if there's something already written
somewhere that I missed, please feel free to send a URL instead of duplicated
text.

3) MythWeather. I'm running RH9, and got an error (about a Widget) in the make.
I've looked thru the docs and see a reference to a change needed in RH8, but
assumed the error could have been due to the fact I'm using MythTV .91 from the
CVS, and MythWeather is at .9 ... suggestions?

4) Are there any written up procedures for keeping up to date with the CVS
versions? I get the Myth Commits, so I'm aware of the changes, but being a
Linux newbie, don't have all of the steps required to maintain new buids based
upon the CVS changes. I would think that this should be available, and perhaps
I overlooked it, but without a solid understanding of how CVS works and how to
update the source files, I'm kind of at a loss as to updating MythTV.

Thanks again!
