[mythtv-users] playing captured files on windows box

Ah, the big question, which we all want a solution for but none that are
practical. Mythtv uses a tweaker divx nuv codec to record and even the
standard mplayer on a linux machine without a tweak cannot play them. I am
not sure how the raw mjpeg codec compares as I only use divx to save space.
I have been asking for someone to develop a streaming server for mythweb so
that we could just click a link on a browser and have it stream the video,
obviously in a lower bandwidth version but still something that is
watchable.

In terms of video out, anything that actually works within linux for the X
display will work. I'm using a G4 MX440 with an Svideo out. There are other
cards but compatibility within linux is pretty I hear if you stray from
Nvidia. ATI is the only one that I know of that supported component out
right now, but those cards do not work in linux well (or at all apparently).
DVI should work fine if you say have a Nvidia card and the drivers setup
properly, and your lucky enough to have a tv with that in. Other than this
you could go these easy route with a scan converter, I was looking at one of
the AverMedia's on ebay but I decided my video out right now is pretty top
notch.

Later,
Chris
