[mythtv-users] anyway to check current status?

Hi,
  Is there anyway to remotely check to see what is happening in mythtv?  I
just want to know if it's sitting idle/watching show/recording show/etc...
I'm remotely logged in from work and would like to install the latest 
version, but I don't know if my wife is using it (and I wouldn't want
to interrupt her if she is :-).  Just wondering...
