Hi,

Quickstart Guide
================

rpm -Uhv http://atrpms.physik.fu-berlin.de/dist/rh9/atrpms-kickstart/atrpms-kickstart-9-2.i386.rpm
apt-get update
apt-get install mythtv-suite

Notes:
* Does NOT cover driver installation, only the application layer,
e.g. xmltv, lame, vorbis etc. libs. Install lirc/alsa/bttv/ivtv
etc. manually (note that some drivers are avilable via apt,
e.g. alsa and lirc 0.6.6 from freshrpms)
* Read the documentation! The rpms are not replacing that! >:)

Long Version
============

This update to 0.9.1/0.9 includes all myth add-ons including the Photo
theme by Ramon Roca. Note that some parts of myth have intentionally a
version of 0.9 and some a version of 0.9.1, so there is nothing wrong
with your setup, if you discover that you have mixed versioning.

Since almost all of the add-ons are new in the rpm set, chances are
high that something may not work. I'd like to thank all people that
helped testing and improving the rpms. Their feedback was very
valuable!

Download and Installation: If you have the bandwidth I recommend using
apt-get or yum with atrpms enabled [1] to get all required bits [2]
with the simple commands

		apt-get update
		apt-get install mythtv-suite

or

		yum install mythtv-suite

While the rpms are downloaded and installed, you should read the
mythtv documentation at http://mythtv.org/! Note that there are some
very pleasant side-effects when installing apt [3]! :)

mythtv-suite takes care of the application layer including xmltv and
mplayer, but does nothing for your drivers (kernel, bttv, ivtv, saa*,
alsa, lirc etc.). Most of them are available vie apt-get (e.g. alsa,
bttv or a patched Red Hat kernel with v4l2 and i2c 2.7.0 merged into,
as well as modularized CONFIG_SERIAL), but if you have a custom kernel
you need to rebuild them. Expect more in this area in the next
time. :)

If you don't want all of myth installed, use apt-get install with one
or more of the following:

o mythtv-frontend
o mythtv-backend
o mythmusic
o mythvideo
o mythweather
o mythweb
o mythgallery
o mythgame
o mythtv-theme-photo

Many thanks to all testers and to the valuable feedback!

Have fun!

[1] See the installation instructions at
    http://atrpms.physik.fu-berlin.de/

[2] all but the drivers! You still have to set up and configure
    capure/sound/graphics cards, remotes etc.

[3] The apt/atrpms-kickstart package enables you to plug into the
    following repositories:

o Red Hat Linux 9 rpms including errata rpms.
o ATrpms maintained by Axel Thimm.
o freshrpms.net maintained by Matthias Saou.
o NewRPMS maintained by Rudolf (Che) Kastl.
o Dag's rpm collection maintained by Dag Wieers.

    Use

		apt-get update
		apt-get dist-ugrade

to upgrade your system to the latest errata, if you wish so.

Install synaptic (apt-get install synaptic) for a graphical
    interface to install/upgrade your packages.
