Agreed, LTSP isn't really a good fit for multimedia apps like MythTV. 
I'm in the process of building a lightweight distribution for diskless
frontend Myth; check the archives for more info.  Currently targeted for
the Pundit, but it would work elsewhere with some minor tweaking.
