[mythtv-users] IR: sending and receiving?

Poking around through the list archives, I've seen a couple of people
mention getting lirc to both send IR signals out (through home-rolled or
actisys ir blasters) and watch for signals via an IR receiver.

Has anyone gotten this working with one of the Hauppauge cards?  I've got a
PVR250 which detects IR signals from its remote just fine, but I can't seem
to get the Actisys 200L I just brought home to co-exist with it.  I tried
the sneaky methods of changing all the device and major-char names for a
second lirc installation, and while I finally got it to a point where there
were no errors logged, I still couldn't detect any signals being sent;
neither irw nor my cable box showed anything.
