I upgraded my kernel and bttv loads without a hitch each time now, and I
was able to build ALSA with no unresolved symbol errors too. With a
properly built ALSA, the machine no longer hard locks when I choose
"watch tv" now either. Still quite a few problems to resolve, some of
which are performance issues, and im set. But I can watch live tv and
record shows now. One question i have is, I have bttv set up like the
following in my /etc/modules.conf

alias char-major-81 bttv card=64 type=2

But it doesnt load on boot, I have to modprobe it. Do i have something
set wrong in that line, or could something else in the modules.conf be
causing it? Full modules.conf follows. I have no idea what that
pre-install and post-install stuff is at the bottom, it was originally
there. Is it related to OSS and not ALSA? Do I have to keep it, or is it
causing problems for me? ALSA modules also arent loading on boot, but I
will ask that on the ALSA list :) I do have to say, I have learned a LOT
in the last week, but I have SO much to learn yet.
