I think that's the wrong order.  From lsmod
lirc_i2c                5092   1
lirc_dev               10128   1  [lirc_i2c]

lirc_dev is being used by lirc_i2c

Did you read the post I made either yesterday or the day before
yesterday on getting it to work with Mandrake?  Is your
/var/log/messages showing that the IR decoder is being detected?

If the modules are in the right place and you do a depmod -a, you
should be able to modprobe lirc_i2c

Make sure you're using the right versions of lircd and irw; I had a
0.6.6 irw trying to talk to a 0.7pre1 lircd and it didn't work.
