[mythtv-users] mythtv crashing mythtv-backend

I am running debian-unstable with the mythtv packages from
http://dijkstra.csh.rit.edu:8088/~mdz/ on a shuttle SB51G (Intel 845G)
I had mythv running but had no sound so I switched from oss i810_audio
to the alsa snd-intel8x0 driver.

After doing so, executing mythtv (via command line or by selecting "watch TV"
in mythfrontend) causes all of the mythbackend threads to die.

XawTV runs flawlessly just as it did before the alsa switch. I have been a
devout OSS driver user until now and am pretty ignorant about alsa.

I was wondering if someone was having a similar problem or might be able to
tell me why this would be happening. My undying thanks in advance.
