I don't know about the sound part since I did not get it to work under 
Red Hat (after playing with it under gentoo, I think I could get it to 
work under Red Hat if I decided to go back to it).

I have not settled on a distro yet. I may give Red Hat another try. 
I'll keep you updated if I do.

Yeah, I did that... It is supposed to launch when booting. Just to be 
safe, I launched it manually but it didn't solve the problem. It used 
to work before so I don't really understand what caused it to stop 
working.
