My gut feeling is that theres parent-child process intercumminication
that isn’t working correctly, (i.e. mythfrontend is not getting a
sigchild) so it doesn’t know that mplayer ended..
I tried fixing this a while ago with my mplayernetwork script (it should
be in the contrib. directory)
Besides trying to take care of the child process reaping, it also makes
a network socket that allows you to control mplayer via a simple network
socket.
It's not perfect and I still get hangs every now and then..but you may
want to look into that..

I noticed this too. You can ALT-TAB to another window if you have any
open that is, kill mythfrontend and run it from the terminal. This is
give you the errror. I can get the error messages from the log file
tonight after work if no one posts them before then. It was too late
to post a coherent message last night.

The remote does stop responding but recovers without restart if you
kill and restart mythfrontend. I believe the keyboard still responses
without restarting.

More info later today.
