[mythtv-users] Almost there: saa7134 & MythTV

I have been fiddling around with a new linux box (AMD Athlon 2000+,
256MB RAM, LifeView FlyVideo 2000 card on an ASUS A7V8X Motherboard
with Red Hat 9.0).

After a few weeks of googleing to death, I managed to:
- Get MythTV installed
- Get v4l2 and saa7134 working
- Configure everything so I can watch TV using xawtv

I've had some success with MythTV but I some help to at this point
would be appreciated... I was able to configure pretty much everything
(backend)... I've had no issue with filling the database (until I
upgraded xmltv to the newest, broken version - I had to downgrade). I
can watch and pause TV with MythTV but I can't seem to get it to switch
channel. When I try, the damn thing just freeze (and I get a no tuner
error when I inspect mythbackend output). Any idea what is wrong here?

The one thing that I've had absolutely no success is sound... I'm using
the onboard audio controller on the ASUS A7V8X. I found some info on
the web (mostly other people reporting that it was not working). Any
pointer on that one wound be very appreciated as well.

For those who have a similar setup (and live in Canada), I had to set
tuner type to 39 for things to work with xawtv (#2 did not work at
all). I also have to use "grabdisplay" instead of "overlay" to have a
clear picture. Other stuff I had to do to make thing works:
- Install atrpms
- Install their kernel package (which has v4l2 compiled in)
- compile and install saa7134 drivers
- install MythTV (via apt-get) and all dependencies

Hope this helps someone...

Étienne
