[mythtv-users] LiveTV jitters every 60 seconds...

Hello,
I've been trying to track down this problem for a while, but I haven't
gotten anywhere.

About every minute or so, the audio will cut out and the video will freeze
for a second. Then it will resume normal playing. If I pause the LiveTV for
a couple seconds, and resume it, it'll never go choppy again.
Why do I have to do this to watch LiveTV?

Here's my hdparm -Tt scores:

/dev/hdb:
 Timing buffer-cache reads:   128 MB in  0.48 seconds =265.34 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads:  64 MB in  3.29 seconds = 19.48 MB/sec

/dev/hda:
 Timing buffer-cache reads:   128 MB in  0.48 seconds =265.34 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads:  64 MB in  3.28 seconds = 19.52 MB/sec

These are identical harddrives.
It should also be noted that if I watch a program while it is being
recorded, it will run smoothly.
Another note, my LiveTV buffer is on one drive, and my recordings go on the
other.

Here's the hdparm -i info:

 Model=QUANTUM FIREBALLP KA18.2, FwRev=A42.0400, SerialNo=361909032241
 Config={ HardSect NotMFM HdSw>15uSec Fixed DTR>10Mbs }

 BuffType=DualPortCache, BuffSize=371kB, MaxMultSect=16, MultSect=16
 CurCHS=16383/16/63, CurSects=16514064, LBA=yes, LBAsects=36094464
 IORDY=on/off, tPIO={min:120,w/IORDY:120}, tDMA={min:120,rec:120}
 PIO modes:  pio0 pio1 pio2 pio3 pio4
 DMA modes:  mdma0 mdma1 mdma2
 UDMA modes: udma0 udma1 udma2
 AdvancedPM=no WriteCache=enabled
 Drive conforms to: ATA/ATAPI-4 T13 1153D revision 15:  1 2 3 4

Now, if you look REALLY hard up there, you'll notice something odd.
"BuffSize=371kB"
Is my tiny drive buffer causing these hiccups?

I had a similar choppiness on my old rig, where I used the same
hard-drives...
Could this be the cause?

Thanks.

Albert
