As I recall, the DXR3 has both an MPEG-1/2 interface
and a VGA input and uses a technique similar to
chroma-keying to overlay the two. Video would
get piped through the MPEG-1/2 interface while
the MythTV GUI and everything else would get
piped through the VGA input
