[mythtv-users] Quality of Aitech Web Cable Plus sucks

People have suggested using scan converters for the best results and
here's my review...

I have been using it for a month now and frankly the quality isn't that
great. For the 70 dollars I spent on it I should have just spent on a low
Geforce card with tv-out. First of all the converter underscans by a tiny
bit leaving a warped wavy edge on the sides. Second there is no overscan
feature for that problem. Third it doesn't center right so I always have
to crawl under my entertainment center and push the stupid buttons to
center it. Fourth there is no memory settings in it so you have to do it
when you reboot the PC. Fifth the quality of the output is sub par, lines
are not well defined (you get dotted like lines in MythTV menus), flicker
is not horrible but not great either. I see some waves when there is a
plain blue background. I wouldn't even consider this any where near the
quality out of the cheapest Apex DVD player you can get in the market. My
main pc's tvout (nforce2 geforce4mx) is a lot better with much better
flicker control and overscan/underscan. Of course I am configuring the
geforce4mx through XP and I'm not sure how it does under the great Linux
operating system .

Unless someone can tell me otherwise where I'm going wrong (which will be
greatly appreciated) my review of the said device is rather unfavourable.
