I've been using the nVidia drivers for years on 5 Linux machines, and I
find the drivers really easy to use and install. Even if I upgrade my
Linux kernel, I just go into the nVidia driver source dir and type
"make" and then "make install" and voila! I think nVidia is doing a
great job with their Linux support.

Don't use their RPM's; just "use the source, Luke". They provide a
.tar.gz of the source (down at the very bottom of the downloads page).
