[mythtv-users] problem trying to watch TV

Does the user running myth* have persmissions for /dev/dsp and /dev/video?  
Also, sometimes if I run myth* as root the ringbuffer is owned by root.  Then 
if I run myth* as my mythtv user, it cannot write to to ring buffer and it 
hangs.
