Apt-get is great but apt-get is also avaible under redhat and all other 
RPM based distro's and is being used more and more everyday.  That is 
what I use to keep my Redhat 7.3 Upgrade to 7.1 with apt-get thought it 
wasn't easy and 8.0 updated with.
