This question is probably better asked on the ivtv mailing list.  To
compile the ivtv driver you must have a kernel source tree which has
been configured and had at least a make dep done.  You do not mention
which distribution you are using, or what kernel, but if there is a
configs directory, one of the files in there likely goes to the kernel
you are running.  Once you determine which one corresponds to your
kernel, you should

cp configs/YOURCONFIG .config
make oldconfig
make dep
