[mythtv-users] lirc_sir with Actisys 200l dongle

Sorry if this is a repeat question, but I could not
find an answer in previous posts.
 
I am trying to configure lirc using lirc_sir module
with an Actisys 200l IR blaster dongle.
I have compiled the latest version (also tried 0.6.6
stable release) from source without error.
 
The driver loads without error, lircd starts up fine,
but when I run any of the client
programs, the driver barfs with the messages shown
below.
 
Suspecting a cable problem I tried the same sequence
with the dongle UNPLUGGED.
The results were the same.  I suspect this may mean
that the driver is not
successfully comminicating with the hardware.
 
Any ideas on how to fix this problem would be helpful.
