I had this problem with a SB Extigy box, which would always run the
codec at 48 kHz, regardless of what sample rate was specified in the
apps. I believe my A7V8Z MOBO with the VIA8235 also has this problem,
at least for the SPDIF out.
Unfortunately I don't know of an easy solution, since you need something
to do sample rate conversion. Systems like aRts will do this, but I
haven't had any luck getting Myth to run with artsdsp (the aRts OSS
emulator app). You might just be able to change the recording profile
to use 48 kHz sample rate, but you might not want all your video
recorded that way. I ended up just changing sound cards.
