[mythtv-users] /sbin/modprobe ivtv -- not working

You need to extract the bin from the software firmware
file. This should be located in /lib/modules/
directory after being extracted with the util in the
utils directory. (something or other extract).
I had this same problem before I actually read the
full instructions on how to use the module.
