Ive read a few posts about people having problems converting mythtv nuv files. 
Just wanted to mention that avidemux2 can edit and convert mythtv almost flawlessly. 
The only problem it seems to have is if you load a mythtv file with a mp3 soundtrack. If you apply any cuts to that file, then the new file will have borked sound. Workaround: save the mp3 track from the original as a uncompressed wave and then save a new nuv file containing the wav soundtrack. Then you can edit it no problem. If the file contains an uncompressed audio track already, then everything works as it should.
And as far as I know, avidemux2 can also be controlled via the console.
