Hi Again,
I'm still trying to configure my first installation of MythTV and I still
have a blank screen when I try to play live TV.
Tonight I upgraded via "yum upgrade mythtv-suite" so I'm pretty current.
My configuration is RH9, ASUS TV Tuner card (cx88 based) and patched 2.4.23
kernel. I can capture video with xawtv.
When I select "Live TV" I get a black screen and the following messages
logged:
backend.log:

Remote encoder not responding.
I'm not sure I completely understand all the components of MythTV yet, but
does the "encoder not responding" refer to the ones selected by
mythfrontend->setup->tv settings->recording profiles->live tv?
If so, I have the option of using MPEG-4 or RTjpeg. Chosing either of these
produces the same results (blank screen during live tv). How can I
determine which codec to use and how can I test this codec to make sure it
is installed and functioning correctly? If those codecs are correct, what
else could cause a blank screen during live tv capture?
Thanks,
Gary H.
