Hi all,

I tried to set up my gentoo box with hardware mpeg decoding.. And I don't seem to get it up and running. Does anyone have a dummies howto yet, because I see various forums where single instances of success are reported, but none come with a complete description of kernel version, patchversions, Xfree versions, mythversion etc.

I'm now running on a 2.4.23-pre9-epia1 kernelwith Ivor's mpeg 1.2 kernelpatch with xfree86 4.3.99.901 with the xfree patch Ivor has on his page. After building and installing this all I added the libddmpeg 1.3 into /usr/X11R6/lib/ directory...

After doing that I compiled Mythtv 0.13 with the via cle266 hardware mpeg decoding support and when I try to watch liveTV or a recoring I get this:

2003-12-11 19:33:09 Connecting to backend server: 192.168.55.98:6543 (try 1 of 1)
Input #0, mpeg, from 'rbuf://192.168.55.98:6543/mnt/stream//ringbuf1.nuv':
  Stream #0.0: Video: mpegvideo_via, 720x576, 25.00 fps
  Stream #0.1: Audio: mp2, 48000 Hz, stereo, 384 kb/s
2003-12-11 19:33:14 Opening OSS audio device '/dev/dsp'.
Segmentation fault

Indeed, stupid not helping me out error, just a segfault without a coredump :(

any1 able to help me ? Do I need to have the VIA drm drivers installed as well? I never read about using them as well to get it up and running....

Jelle.
