Just checked and mythfilldatabse is working fine here (Seattle, WA). 
Just running stock mythtv and xmltv:


sagan root # qpkg -I -v mythtv
media-tv/mythtv-0.12 *


sagan root # qpkg -I -v xmltv
media-tv/xmltv-0.5.23 *
