[mythtv-users] mythtv DVB Status

Dear all,

I have mythtv installed with a single Nova-T card, and it is truly
amazing. It is prone to random segmentation faults in the front end when
fast-forwarding or rewinding, but on the whole it is very impressive. I
have noticed that on channels with adverts, when watching live TV, the
video can start to get jumpy (audio is perfect) - could this be to do
with advert skipping? Any ideas? The only way to stop it is to exit live
TV and re-enter, but then you lose the buffer.

I have a couple of questions regarding the future of DVB support:
1. Does the current release support multiple DVB cards?

2. Is there a way to get XML TV to get only the channels that you have
listed in your channels database table - it appears from the setup file
that it gets the 'regional 16' as a block, it then inserts the channels
that I don't want back into the database and they show up on the EPG.
This also means that the channels table is inconsistent with the
dvbchannels table.

3. In theory it should be possible to get all the streams from a
multiplex at once from the DVB card (assuming sufficient processing
power), which would allow recording whilst watching TV on a different
channel using a single DVB card so long as the both channels are on the
same multiplex. Is there/will there be support for this?

On a separate note, is there any way to take a recorded program and play
this on windows? Or for that matter burn it to a VCD? I think this would
be a great myth plugin.

Thanks, Paul

PS anyone thinking about upgrading to DVB, it is well worth the effort,
it's awesome. I can give the information for the dvbchannels table for
the Crystal Palace, (London) transmitter.
