I've used mythfrontend over VNC before, and aside from the fact that you 
get no Xv support and about 1 frame ever few seconds (this over a cable 
modem uplink), it works.  I typically use it to go into edit mode and 
tweak my cutpoints for later transcoding to SVCD.  If you have a fast 
network and don't do any scaling (i.e., set your Myth display size to 
the same as your video capture resolution), it might even be watchable.
