[mythtv-users] new install

I did preliminary research, bought a tuner card (super cheap) then did the
real research and found that the card isn't what i REALLY want.. but it
should work.. (made the digital television != digital cable mistake)

I bought a wintv-d and it should arrive in the next couple days.  Does
anyone have any experience with this card? Anything that I need to lookout
for? I also have a bt848 card just sitting on the shelf that I can use if
need be.

Also I am looking for an el cheapo card that has TV-OUT.  I have a 53"
Sony HDTV, and have looked into VGA --> component adaptor/converters and
they are around 100 USD, am I better off getting a tv-out card with
S-Video out and settling for that, or is the converter worth while..

I am stuck with a DCT2000 that my cable company won't allow serial on. Can
anyone recommend a good IR Blaster? I have read horror stories that you
can't depend on the DCT2000 accepting channel change requests from a good
percentage of the time.

I realize that I just asked a lot of questions in one email. I Don't know
much about TV, any info you can throw my way would be much appreciated. I
am tirelessly reading through the myth-users archives, but with > 100
emails yesterday alone, it isn't an easy task :)
