[mythtv-users] Myth TV and KNOPPIX

I am attempting to install and configure MythTv onto the knoppix live linux cd,www.knoppix.net.  I have managed to build using cvs and I am able to run the fromtend however so far when I try to run the TV application I get only a black screen with no sound.  I have beenresearching online and discovered that this will be the case if I don't have sound set up correctly.
 
I am using a pIII 700 with 650 ram a sblive sound card and a ati all in wonder rage tv card.  I can watch tv with sound using xawtv.
 
My question is does mythTv require alsa to run or is it possible to configure it to run using OSS.
 
Also has anyone else managed to get this to work.  Keep in mind I want to run the whole mythTv program from the cd and store the recording either on a hd or over the network, preferably over the network using samba.  
 
Unlike the knopMyth app that only runs the front end from knoppix.
