[mythtv-users] Question for MythGame-ers

I've also had problems with both, in both ALSA and the
OSS drivers.

In theory, ALSA should be easier, since you just have
to save the configuration (with alsactl store), then
edit the /etc/asound.conf file, turn on the gameport,
and then restore the mixer settings (alsactl restore).

My problems with both of these cards has been trying
to load in the ns558 module, it would never load. I'm
using a Sidewinder gamepad.

Are you sure that you're loading the correct modules?
I think that you should have gameport, ns558, joydev
and analog loaded in.

My solution, since I needed a soundcard for the PC
anyway was to put in a Soundblaster Live 5.1. I know
that doesn't help any, but I decided not to use the
onboard sound on my motherboard, and I figured that
for the $60 it cost, it was a good deal. Gameport
works (just use the emu10k1-gp driver in OSS or the
corresponding driver in ALSA) and the audio out is
pretty good too. Only problem is that XMAME has
problems with the SBLive, but that could be the game
ROMs themself (the emulation of them), I'm not sure.
