i've compiled and make install

mandrake 9.0 on 900 Athlon with 650 mb ram

i cd to setup and ./setup

[root at bob setup]# ./setup
./setup: error while loading shared libraries: libmyth-0.8.so.0: cannot
open shared object file: No such file or directory

i've check /usr/local/lib for this file...it is there 

[root at bob setup]# ls -l /usr/local/lib/libmyth-0.8.so.0
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root           20 Apr 23 23:31
/usr/local/lib/libmyth-0.8.so.0 -> libmyth-0.8.so.0.8.0*

what does it mean it cannot open this shared object file?

any suggestions
