To find the version, look for "bttv: driver version" in your kernel logs.

Yes, you have to patch and recompile the kernel.  It is a very easy process ( http://bytesex.org/v4l/build.html ) once you have compiled the kernel the way you want it.  If you are new to compiling the kernel though...

How do I check which bttv version I have. And if I have 0.7xx how hard is it to upgrade to 0.9x, does it take a kernel recompile? I am running Mandrake 9.1. Thanks
