I can't remember exactly what the schema is for the channels table, but if you are using the myth 0.8 build (ie not cvs) then it often doesn't like it if you leave certain fields in the channels table with nulls/blanks.  Try making sure that you have the channel id, etc all with values (or upgrade to latest CVS)
